Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Police report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then discovered many other marked vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; investigators are currently not informed of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for information.
An important representative stated the incident made him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on social media, recalling the death of nine people by a assailant aiming at residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
